Leading design at an art and social impact organization from 2017-2020

A Blade of Grass is a NY-based organization that partners with socially engaged artists to amplify their work and expand the audience for community-engaged art through a fellowship program and, previously, by creating events, short documentary films, and a range of online content.

Overview

I led design within a cross-functional team where I:

  • Introduced human-centered design processes, namely UX design and research

Designing the many aspects of our in-person experiences such as print programs and wayfinding signage was an early gateway into making the case for more human-centered design processes and higher accessibility standards across all design projects.

Overview

Californians want to keep their families safe from wildfires, but they face many obstacles when preparing for and responding to them.

Working from an initial discovery research phase through to high-fidelity prototyping and testing, I designed the functional and emotional product experience residents needed by creating a calm and clear visual identity and reconciling resident needs with the constraints of complex emergency response protocols.

Turn It Up To 30: Artists Amplifying Change Fundraising Campaign

Organized by social justice advocate and friend Janie Dusenberry, this was a campaign showcasing artists and musicians who shared their work to raise $30,000 in 30 days for: Black Voters Matter, Sylvia Rivera Law Project, and Make the Road New York.

I designed the visual identity, social media templates, and produced the campaign’s website.

Featured Illustrations

Two illustrations featured in a social media campaign organized by the United Nations to amplify public health messages related to Covid-19. Artists and designers were invited to submit work to an open call.

The Center for Cultural Power is an Oakland-based, women of color and artist-led organization, inspiring artists and culture makers to imagine a world where power is distributed equitably. 

Commissions were part of a 2020 post-election social media campaign calling for continued civic engagement that goes beyond voting and centers community.
